DIabetes in Tonga

Chronic kidney disease from diabetes kills hundreds of people every year in Tonga. Without proper dialysis treatment, kidney failure will continue to plague hundreds of individuals with severe implications for their health and to the country as a whole. Tonga does not currently have a dialysis center, which forces people who suffer from diabetes and renal failure to flee to different countries for treatment. Many of those who cannot afford to travel are desperately seeking other treatment options - but without the proper treatment, most individuals pass away.

The first Dialysis Clinic

Providing essential dialysis services in Tonga beginning in early 2024. (Developments pending regarding COVID-19)

There will be eight dialysis machines ready for patients in early 2024 (pending developments) at our location in Tongatapu near Vaiola Hospital. These low-cost or free services are only the beginning. Once the project is fully completed, the Health Education Center will bring hope to hundreds of Tongans suffering from chronic kidney disease, regardless of their ability to pay. This beautiful new facility will be constructed in Tongatapu, and will become a beacon of hope to the community.
